Mission Statement

Hi, I'm Eric.
This blog is dedicated to tracking and advancing the movement for single-payer national health insurance in the United States, as well as movements for individual states (especially California, my home) to adopt single-payer systems. I hope:

- to keep readers informed of new developments (such as political developments and notable news pieces) via regular news round-ups.

- to inform readers, especially those new to the idea of single-payer, about what "single-payer" is, and why the Public Option is being viewed by some experts not as "half a loaf" but rather "aspirin for a cancer patient".

- to provide a locus for rational, evidence-based discussion of health reform proposals and suggestions for mobilization and activism.

- to learn from readers about other movements and groups that might aid the cause of bringing affordable healthcare to all Americans. This could include, for example, labor groups that are interested in learning more about single-payer so they might consider endorsing it. It could also include people involved in advocating for campaign financing reform or lobbying industry reform, which I know little about and which would help our cause.
